Negotiations resumed last week with meetings in Atlanta. While it won’t surprise you to learn that we spent time talking about Scheduling, we also had a preliminary meeting with the Company’s Pass Travel team to get more information about how the system works behind the scenes. This information will help us create a Pass Travel system that provides more value for Delta pilots.
In light of the pace of recent progress, it raises questions as to whether the Company is truly interested in achieving a deal in an accelerated timeframe. We are currently awaiting the Company’s response to a number of our outstanding proposals including vacation, deadheading and holiday pay. This is in addition to the core economic items such as pay and retirement that are typically resolved at the end of negotiations. Absent productive exchanges on the pilots’ priorities in the near future, the MEC will have to determine whether the timeframe for an accelerated negotiation will have come and gone.
Negotiations are scheduled to continue next week.

Dues Return Offer | Delta MEC & ALPA National

Delta MEC Dues Return Offer
At the recent Regular MEC meeting in Park City, UT, your elected union representatives unanimously voted to authorize a return offer of $10 million of eligible dues. Please note, this is in addition to the dues return offer planned by National later this summer. Processing of returns will begin July 21, 2026.
The fastest way to receive returned dues is to set up direct deposit. If you have not set up direct deposit, or would like to verify your information, please do the following:
- Visit mydirectdeposit.alpa.org and log in with your ALPA ID and password. There are Forgot Member Number/Forgot Password links on the sign-in page should those details be needed.
- Confirm, update, or fill out your account information on the secure site.
Pilots who choose the direct deposit option will receive an email notification when the payment file is transferred to ALPA’s bank for processing.
If you prefer a mailed check, please update or confirm your mailing address at www.alpa.org/memberaccount. There are Forgot Member Number/Forgot Password links on the sign-in page should those details be needed. Once you’ve reviewed and updated or confirmed your correct mailing address, there’s no further action required.

ALPA National Dues Return Offer: Watch Your Email
LPA’s Executive Council has authorized a dues return offer for the third consecutive year. This year’s offer totals $53 million, and all pilots who were dues obligated in 2025 are eligible.
Eligible pilots will receive an email from DuesReturn@alpa.org with instructions on receiving your dues return offer. You will need to provide direct deposit information for an electronic funds transfer or confirm your mailing address for a paper check.
DuesReturn@alpa.org is an official ALPA email address. It is extremely important for all pilots to take the steps outlined in the email to ensure you can receive and accept your offer.

PBS Upgrade to NAVBLUE
PBS will be upgraded to NAVBLUE version 25.7 on 25 July for September CQ and Monthly Bidding. All PBS logins will now use SSO thru Deltanet, using the “PBS (Web App)” Tile on Deltanet > Flight Operations. Pilots are urged to review PBS Notepad 26-01 for all the details on logging in and the new updates to PBS. PBS will be unavailable during the software upgrade until 25July/1800E. Please do not attempt to log in until that time.
PBS Committee volunteers will be in the lounges to answer questions on the new updates on the following dates:
- ATL A Lounge: Aug. 5-11
- JFK, LAX, SEA, SLC Lounges: Aug. 5-7
- DTW Lounge: Aug. 7-9

For airline pilots operating in highly congested terminal environments, mid-air collision avoidance demands vigilance and strict adherence to standardized procedures. While automation like TCAS provides a crucial line of defense, maintaining active visual scanning and good communication between pilots remains irreplaceable. This article examines the areas where traffic conflicts are most common, mitigation techniques, and TCAS RA maneuver review.

Laser Illumination Threat, Guidance, and Crew Actions
|
The ALPA Laser Threat Mitigation pamphlet was recently updated, primarily with updates to the imbedded website hyperlinks. It is located in Comply365 under the ALPA-Safety folder. It is also available along with additional resources on the ALPA Laser Reporting webpage.
It provides useful information such as recommended crewmember actions in the event of a laser strike to the cockpit as well as follow-on reporting requirements and medical screening protocols in the event of suspected eye injury.
Additionally, FOM Section 2.3.7 "Laser Illumination" provides crew recommendations to include contacting the Duty Pilot as soon as possible after an event.
The seriousness of laser attacks is highlighted in the conviction earlier this month of a man who shined a laser at a Delta flight going into Buffalo back in March of 2024.

Immediate Actions to Take If You Experience a Laser Strike
- If struck by a laser on approach, do not continue to look into the beam. Shield your eyes and go heads down immediately. This action will protect your eyes while the laser light is illuminating the flight deck.
- Communicate with other flight deck crewmembers and assess both pilots’ physical condition. In the event of an injury, declare an emergency and request priority handling, if necessary.
- Transfer control of aircraft to the uninjured pilot, if necessary.
- Do not rub your eyes.
- Consistent with flight manual restrictions, use flight deck automation to the fullest extent.
- Maintain control of aircraft and monitor configuration, altitude, and airspeed to maintain or reestablish desired flight profile.
- Turn instrumentation and panel background lighting up.
- Consider executing a missed approach. As with any event that is the catalyst for a go-around (e.g., low weather, birds, aircraft on the runway), a go-around may be your most prudent course of action in responding to a laser illumination.
- Expeditiously advise ATC of the laser event. Provide the most accurate description possible of the location of the laser source, beam direction, and color and length of exposure (flash or intentional tracking).
- While in the arrival area, if you are notified that a laser event has been reported and remains unresolved, request a different runway or ask for holding until the area has been secured and the threat has ceased.
- Consider the need to divert if the laser threat continues.
- Follow all company protocols relating to reporting laser illuminations in a safe and timely fashion, to include notification of local company officials.
- Cooperate with law enforcement officials conducting follow-up investigation of the event.
- As soon as possible after landing, get an eye examination at the nearest emergency room (and/or with an ophthalmologist) to determine if you have suffered any eye damage. All eye injuries should be reported to the ALPA Aeromedical Officer, 303-341-4435, or ALPA Canada’s Aeromedical consultant at 1-800-561-9576 ext. 8312 as soon as possible during normal business hours. Updated DAF Policy | Members’ Rights Under USERRA
On 30 June 2026, the Department of the Air Force (DAF) updated its policy regarding DAF members’ rights under USERRA. Changes include an additional exemption from the five-year limit when ordered to active duty in support of a critical requirement as a unit Commander on G-series orders, Command Chief Master Sergeant, or E-9 SEL above Wing level. Additionally, DAF members on orders for 30 days or more may not work for their civilian employer during the period covered by those orders, unless the member is on approved terminal leave. This is consistent with the Company policy regarding concurrent duty while pilots are on long-term MLOA.
The Secretaries of the Military Departments and the Commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard each develop implementing policy in accordance with USERRA and DoDI 1205.12 (Nov 2024).
