PBS WebApp Software Update 21-3

The purpose of this Notepad is to discuss the most recent release of the PBS WebApp interface, version 21-3, which will be active for the March 2022 bid period (including CQ bidding).

This version of the WebApp adds the capability to automatically clear your browser cache when it detects a new version of the WebApp and fixes several other bugs.

Important Note:  The WebApp will now have the capability to automatically clear your browser cache, but only for any subsequent version. You must manually clear your browser cache one last time before using the WebApp to submit bids for the March 2022 bid period to install this new version. Instructions for clearing your browser cache can be found in the PBS Reference Handbook – “Clearing the Cache” section.

Auto Cache Clearing

The WebApp will now compare the PBS version number in your browser cache to the PBS version number on the PBS server. If it determines that the server has a newer version than the version in your browser cache, it will automatically clear your browser cache. It will display a message to let you know it is clearing your cache.

There are a couple of important caveats to this capability:

  • Your cache will be automatically cleared for versions detected after you’ve been using 21.3. In other words, you still need to manually clear your browser cache before using 21.3.
  • Auto cache clearing currently only works for certain browsers:
    • Google Chrome for PC
    • Edge for PC
    • Safari on iOS

NOTE: If you choose to use another supported browser, you will still need to manually clear your browser cache any time a new version of the WebApp is released.

Additional Bug Fixes

This version of the WebApp fixes several bugs:

  • Corrects an issue that prevented pilots from inputting a Slide Vacation for a vacation that starts in the current bid month and carries out into the next month.
  • Corrects an issue that allowed pilots to copy a bid group from a previous month that contained a Slide Vacation into the current month (which allowed an invalid Slide Vacation to exist). To copy a bid group with a Slide Vacation from the previous month, pilots will have to copy lines from the bid group rather than the whole bid group. As a reminder, to select multiple lines for copying & pasting, click on the line numbers rather than the verbiage in the lines.
  • Corrects an issue that would give an erroneous error message related to RLL bid groups.
  • Corrects improper text wrapping on the Reasons Report in the WebApp that prevented viewing long lines.

As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to the PBS Committee for assistance.
