Feedback Requested: Rate Your Pilot/Flight Operations Experience

Have you had an issue with Flight Operations customer service? ALPA is seeking feedback on specific episodes that pilots would consider a “difficult customer service experience,” including response time or ability to reach anyone from any of the following departments:

  • Pilot Assist
  • Pilot Leaves
  • Training Planning
  • Crew Resources
  • Duty Pilot
  • Chief Pilot’s Office
  • Crew Scheduling / Crew Tracking
  • Crew Assist
  • AskHR

Share your experience via our Pilot-Flight Operations Survey. Please be as detailed as possible, including dates, times, nature of the issue as well as the names of any individuals you may have had interaction. The information collected from this survey is for internal ALPA purposes only and will not be shared.

Note: This survey is for information purposes only. Pilots requiring ALPA assistance should still submit claims to the appropriate committee via DART or Scheduling Ticket System (STS). If your experience was strictly a Contract or Scheduling issue, please use DART or STS.  If you had an “customer service” interaction issue, a delay in response, or had an interaction in which incorrect or untimely information was provided, please fill out the survey.

We appreciate your participation!

Engage: Scheduling Shenanigans| Trip Coverage
Engage_Graphic_78_3305940.gif

As Delta enters the heart of the summer operation, the Scheduling Committee returns to discuss one of the most talked-about topics on the line: trip coverage.

Scheduling Committee Chairman Captain Ian Turner and Vice Chairman Captain Josh Cantrell pull back the curtain on what is really happening behind the scenes as Crew Ops works through unprecedented levels of open time, staffing challenges, technology bottlenecks, and evolving trip coverage processes.

The conversation tackles everything from M7 usage and out-of-base slips to ARCOS award delays, auto-accept misconceptions, premium flying pickup rates, and the persistent claim that pilots are "clogging the system." The guests explain why trip coverage is taking longer than pilots are accustomed to, how operational complexity has changed since the pre-COVID era, and why pilots should continue exercising their contractual rights without feeling pressure to alter their behavior. If you've looked at your schedule lately and wondered, "What is happening?," this episode is for you.

UNH Polling: June 23 - July 2

The University of New Hampshire (UNH) will conduct statistically valid telephone polling of the pilot group on behalf of the Delta MEC beginning June 23 and concluding on July 2. If called, please take just a few minutes to share your feedback with the Delta MEC.

Note the following:

  • All calls will come from the number 603-397-0660
  • Caller ID on landlines will indicate "UNH Surv Ctr”
  • Caller ID on cell phones will indicate “NH Call”
  • Calling times are between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. (time zone appropriate)
  • UNH will interview 600 pilots (randomly selected)
  • UNH will attempt to call you back if your sampling quota is not yet met.

As most carriers have “spam blocking” messaging, some pilots (dependent on carrier) may receive a warning by their carrier that says “spam likely” when the call comes through. This warning gets generated based on the volume of calls UNH makes. Pilots can choose to add UNH’s number to their contacts to avoid receiving this warning.

Your Upcoming Dues Return Offer: Watch Your Email

ALPA’s Executive Council has authorized a dues return offer for the third consecutive year. This year’s offer totals $53 million, and all pilots who were dues obligated in 2025 are eligible.

Eligible pilots will receive an email from DuesReturn@alpa.org with instructions on receiving your dues return offer. You will need to provide direct deposit information for an electronic funds transfer or confirm your mailing address for a paper check.

DuesReturn@alpa.org is an official ALPA email address. It is extremely important for all pilots to take the steps outlined in the email to ensure you can receive and accept your offer.

You can also visit the dues return page on the ALPA website by clicking the button below.

COMMITTEE NEWS
Training
E-Learning Updates
The Delta MEC Training Committee recently met with the Company to establish run times for next quarter’s QCQ. Per 11 B.9, distributed training pays one minute of pay for every one and a half minutes of run time, or one hour, whichever is greater.
The Q3 run times are as follows:
QCQ_3_SM_3305775.png
737 MAX Differences
The Company has indicated that its current plan is to have all 73N pilots attend a three-day CQ event beginning with the new cycle in September, the additional day being MAX differences training. Prior to attending CQ, each pilot will be required to complete a MAX differences e-learning course, which pilots should expect to have assigned the month prior to their CQ. This course is separate from QCQ, and its run time will be 197 min, resulting in 131 min of pay.

350 E-Learning Course
The Company has also advised ALPA that they are developing a standalone course for the 350 fleet, with an expected rollout in July. The exact content and run times are not yet finalized, so we will provide more details when we receive them.

Delta’s FRMS Authorizations

Have you ever noticed a Company remark on your flight plan that states: “THIS FLIGHT IS BEING CONDUCTED UNDER FAA OPSPEC A318. SEE FOPP 20-00-65 FRMS FOR DETAILS” and thought, “Wait, I thought FRMS only applies to the A350 four-pilot operations. I am not on the A350, so this must not apply to my flight? If so, you may want to read further.

Delta Pilot Assistance Committee (DPAC): 833-DAL-DPAC
Confidential Help for Delta Pilots

DPAC provides confidential support to Delta pilots facing challenges with alcohol or substance use. Our committee has helped many Delta Pilots achieve lasting recovery and return to flying through the HIMS program — a structured, FAA-approved path for treatment and return to duty after a substance use disorder diagnosis.

What DPAC Does - and Doesn't
DPAC does not monitor, investigative or report a pilot’s alcohol or drug use.  Support begins when a pilot self-identifies or experiences an on-duty event.  Participation in HIMS is completely voluntary.

When a pilot contacts DPAC for information, nothing is shared with the company until the pilot specifically requests assistance. Volunteers never make unsolicited calls or collect information about off-duty behavior. HIMS participants progress through a defined step-down process that meets FAA requirements, and once complete, are not subject to random monitoring for the remainder of their careers.

Where can I find more information?

If you or someone you care about is struggling with substance abuse and would like to confidentiality speak to a DPAC Volunteer, please use the following contact information:

Because of the sensitive nature of your situation, you will only speak to the DPAC Chairman or Vice Chairman. Your phone call is confidential and never recorded.
