The road to opening negotiations for Contract 2026 has been long and deliberate. Over the past few months, your elected Union representatives have thoroughly reviewed polling and contract surveys; we have engaged in deep discussions and at times sharply debated how we would proceed. Through our governance, we have remained respectful of each other and unified by our common desire to serve the Delta Pilots.
With this in mind, the Negotiating Committee has been directed to open Section 6 negotiations with a framework for a short-term contract, intended to be negotiated in an expedited timeframe. Initial discussions with senior executives suggest there is some interest in this path. However, to be clear: Our goal is a new, industry-leading contract, completed in a matter of weeks or months, rather than years, with no concessions.
The Delta Pilots deserve and should expect nothing less than a contract that properly addresses both pay and quality of life. Management will have a small window to show us they are serious. If they are not, the MEC will pivot to traditional Section 6 negotiations, and the daily scheduling chaos will likely continue.
The Delta MEC stands firmly united behind our Negotiating Committee and our elected MEC Administration. They have our full and unwavering support as we collectively set down this path.
We will be transparent in our communications as the process unfolds. Please continue to stay engaged as we improve and defend our contract together.
